Lambeth air pollution dangerously high

Kate Ruhle, Lambeth UNISON environmental officer, reports on the alarming news about air pollution levels in the borough

Air pollution in London continues to exceed legal limits. News articles five days into the new year reported that the annual legal limit on nitrogen dioxide had already been breached on Brixton Road. Sadiq Khan has pledged new measures and to double funding to £875m over five years to tackle the problem. Keep up to date with current pollution levels in your area and limit your exposure by using the interactive pollution maps from London Air.

Lambeth’s action days on engine idling in which volunteers encourage drivers to switch off their engines, have continued into 2017. The next one will be in West Norwood between 12-2pm on 28 February 2017. Colleagues can take the opportunity to volunteer.
