“We, Labour Party members, support the occupation of Carnegie library in Lambeth to stop its closure, as part of the wider campaign against library cuts.

  1. As a retired Adult and Community Educaion /FE lecturer and NATFHE UCU member for over 30 years I am appalled by Lambeth council’s decision to close and revamp the library service. Health and Well-being is part of every library remit and part of the founders ethos. To use excuses such as funding for vulnerable people and Adult social care is taking away from a service which assists the very people Lambeth Council is trying to help. The workers role is devalued. The Librarian as a profession is devalued and de-professionalised. Jeremy Corbyn should intervene in Lambeth councils’ decisions on Culture 2020
